Visiting the cemetery was an awesome and unforgettable experience. 

The cemetery overlooks Omaha Beach. It covers 172.5 acres. There are 9,387 servicemen and women interred there. Three hundred and seven of which are unknowns, three Medal of Honor recipients, and four women.

There is an excellent booklet published by the American Battle Monuments Commission that is provided to cemetery visitors. You can download a copy of it at the commissions website. There also are some excellent photos at the site. The aerial photo gives a wonderful view of this hallowed ground.
